With its great dining scene and beachfront setting, it’s no wonder TripAdvisor reviewers crowned this place the best hotel in Cape Verde in 2013. This hotel looks a like a sandcastle – appropriate really, given it fringes one of Boa Vista’s best beaches.Glossy lawns and courtyards surround the Hotel Riu Touareg, creating a real sense of privacy. There’s also an adults-exclusive area with a swimming pool and an à la carte restaurant. that you’ll get access to if you stay in the adults-only rooms.

Mention Cape Verde to the man on the street, and it’s likely you’ll get a blank look in response. These islands, about 400 miles off the coast of Senegal, have only recently emerged from obscurity. But, in certain circles, they’re creating a real stir. The 10 isles, one of which is Boa Vista, offer up some knock-out beaches, not to mention toasty temperatures all year round.

The main attraction here are the pools, featuring under-water sunbeds, little ones have mini-waterslides and there’s a whirlpool bath and swim-up bar, too. You’ve also got a spa, kids’ club, watersports and a nightclub. And the restaurants are worth a mention too, with buffet, local and Asian options plus a gourmet à la carte exclusive to guests staying in the Adults-only section. Elsewhere, you can log-on to free Wi-Fi in the hotel lobby.

Rooms here are all provided with air-conditioning, a TV and a balcony or a terrace. For a bit more try a superior double room or treat yourself and upgrade to a junior suite - there’s also a family suite and a junior suite available too. If there are only adults in your party - try an adult area room with extras such as a minibar and an adults-only pool area. For a bit of luxury you could try an adult’s area junior suite with Jacuzzi® too.

Eating And Drinking

The poolside restaurant is where long, laid-back Continental breakfasts are the order of the day. By evening it transforms into an African-inspired restaurant. The adults-only restaurant cranks things up a notch with its gourmet menu, exclusive to guests staying in the Adults-only section. And the Asian place is so popular that advance booking is required.
